The Academy ordinarily meets the last full weekend of September in an Annual Conference to discuss contemporary ecumenical issues in an informal setting. Conference papers are submitted to the Journal of Ecumenical Studies, which has first rights of publication. Members of the Academy receive a subscription to the Journal as a benefit of membership.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Please join us on Zoom as Dr. Josiah Baker introduces his forthcoming book, A Visible Unity: Cecil Robeck and the Work of Ecumenism.
The work of uniting churches is slow, challenging, and multifaceted; and it changes in each generation and location. In this book, Josiah Baker studies the efforts of believers towards reconciliation as something significant for how we understand the church. He offers a theology for laborers, people for whom unity is not only an idea but a calling and sure hope.
NAAE 2025 Conference will be held November 20-21, 2025, at the Huffington Ecumenical Institute (Hellenic College Holy Cross)
Past EVENTS
Please join us on Zoom as Dr. Jakob Rinderknecht introduces his forthcoming book, An Ecumenical Priesthood: The Spirit of God and the Structure of the Church. The book is a critical translation of Karl Rahner’s Vorfragen zu einem ökumenischen Amtsverständnis. In this book, Rahner proposes a means by which Roman Catholics could recognize the ordinations of Protestant ministers, and therefore also the real ecclesiality of Protestant churches. Following Jakob’s presentation, there will be opportunity for questions and discussion.
